Otto's Adventure

You are Otto.

The wise wizard that has shown up on your doorstep seems pretty insistent that only Otto can save the universe. It will surely be a dangerous journey. 

To embark on his quest, Otto will have to go through the rites of passage of countless RPG protagonists before him -- build his party, secure some equipment, cook up his potions, and choose his class. 

Only then, will he be prepared to leave the safety of his village, the companionship of his community, and the love of his family.

It's a tall order. It's something Otto would never ordinarily do -- probably something you would never do in real life either.

AN ANTI-RPG

This version of Otto's Adventure was created during the UChicago Game Design (UGD) x Career Advancement Game Jam 2025, the theme of which was Anti-(Your Genre Here). We designed our games to subvert common RPG tropes, and ask a question: What does it really mean for you to take on the role of your character?

• Dialogue: Click Otto's response in the right segment of the text box to trigger the next line of dialogue
• Movement: WASD / Arrow Keys
• Interacting: Walk up to Characters and Objects with an exclamation mark to automatically speak with them

Minigame Controls:

• Darts: Spacebar / Left Click when the moving line is within the green zone
• Trying On "Equipment": Left Click the arrow buttons on screen
• Ascending the Mountain: WASD / Arrow Keys for movement, Spacebar to jump
• Match the Beat: Press ASDF or 1234  to match the four buttons on screen when it's time.
